There are so many ways in which I-phone or mobile phone photos differ from professional photos some of which I think are pretty clear and well known so I’ll just rapid fire those.
- Quality – Professional > Mobile Phone
- Ease (Generally speaking) – Mobile Phone > Professional
- Time (In terms of shortness) – Mobile Phone > Professional
The three differences listed above are pretty straight forward. Quality is without a doubt going to be better with professional photos, mobile phone photos are going to be easier and involve less time to take because all you have to do is whip out your phone and bam! you can take a photo.
Where I think mobile phone images and professional images really differentiate is in intention. Often time, there is very little intention with mobile phone images. We take pictures with our phones to remember notes, save addresses, save places, capture the little day to day moments, take selfies, and more. We take photos of anything and everything, sometimes on auto pilot.
Hear me when I say there is nothing wrong with this! There is SO much value in having the ability to document every single day of our lives if we wanted to. There is value in taking pictures of the birthday cakes, the sunsets, the dogs, the pretty skylines, the whatever you feel is special.
There is also something so special about putting the intention of a professional photo session into capturing your life. About recognizing that you are in a special season, whatever season that may be, and knowing that you want to freeze this moment in time. Every season of our lives our special because this is our first time navigating each and every moment. The intention woven into finding YOUR photographer, picking out outfits that you love and feel good in, picking out a location that fits your vision, making a day out of your photo session, and being fully present and enjoying your session is what makes sessions so special. Your life deserves this level of intention, this level of honoring, this level of capturing.
Your photo sessions are special to you and as a photographer I am honored that I get to make magic happen with you.
Encouraging you to live big,
Victoria
